World Environment Day 2023: Kimball Electronics Romania

Kimball Electronics locations around the world celebrated World Environment Day (June 5) in various ways.

The best way to contribute to environmental awareness for younger generations is to involve individuals in concrete, fun activities. As part of Kimball Electronics' Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy, employees from Kimball Electronics Romania (KERO) are very close to the children in the classroom that they began sponsoring in 2021, not only with social aspects, but educational ones as well. This year, to celebrate World Environment Day, KERO organized a recycling activity to let the students demonstrate their imaginations while creating the future.

"Robots are the future," said the students, who built ingenious toys from plastic materials, complementing the World Environment Day theme, "#BeatPlasticPollution." The children learned about repurposing plastic to avoid the landfill. The event took place one day before the summer vacation, and the children enjoyed the quality time and fun. Students were rewarded with a special cake and take-away sweets from KERO. They were very careful to use only cardboard plates and cups and wooden cutlery for this activity. KERO participants were Liviu Mocanu, Florin Nemes, Sebastian Pirva, Paul Mitruti, Mihaela Badea and Scott Saalman. The class teacher Adelina Curutiu also participated.

Kimball Electronics believes that all of us can reduce plastic pollution with small actions. We can use other materials with smaller negative impact, recycle items by category of waste, and teach younger generations about how to protect the environment while leading by example.
